What gets applicants rejected here
- One to two pages. No photo, no date of birth, no SIN.
- "Summary of qualifications": four to five bullets at the top.
- One line on Canadian equivalency of foreign credentials (WES or similar) if you have it.
- Canadian spelling is a mix: colour, organize, centre.
- State eligibility to work in Canada explicitly; no salary history.
Questions
Do I need a credential assessment to apply?
Not always, but a WES or ICAS line tells the reader your degree is recognised and saves them guessing. It is worth the one line.
Should I list my immigration status?
Yes, one line: citizen, permanent resident, or the permit you hold. It answers the first question every Canadian employer has.
Is a Canadian résumé the same as a US one?
Close: same structure and length, but Canadian spelling, and the summary-of-qualifications section is expected.
